The Wahupa Difference

Driven to innovate

Wahupa was founded with the specific purpose to address the flaws in existing software solutions that are plaguing the supply chain domain. When people say "forecasts are always wrong", "plans are worthless by the time they are published", "we are always fire-fighting", "projects are long and costly", "integrating data is an arduous process" ,"data quality is low, and cleansing it takes forever", "purchasing dedicated software is risky", "we don't have the experts needed to run the system". These are exactly the issues caused by software flaws. These are not inherent to your domain. And we aim to prove it by building a better software product that solves all of those.

Some of our key features

The list below are some features that make Wahupa SCM unique:

  1. Probabilistic
Supply chains are inherently uncertain. Yet forecasting and planning systems alike treat them as though they are not, paying lip service to uncertainty with concepts such as safety stocks. In all planning processes, forecasted and planned quantities are treated as being exact and precise. There is no recovering from this fundamental flaw. Chaos and fire-fighting are all but guaranteed. The only right approach is to treat every uncertain aspect as such, all quantities, all lead times, all durations, all frequencies, all yields, and so forth. Plans become stable and decisions can be made with understanding of the risks and opportunities whilst optimizing for cost or other objectives.
  2. Holistic
The most optimal production plan is horrible for inventory and vice versa. The best demand shaping efforts cause mayhem in the supply chain. Planning processes in isolation cause conflict and overall inefficiency. Wahupa SCM allows any planning processes to be modeled independently, and it then automatically knows how they are connected. Even external planning systems and spreadsheets can easily be incorporated in this one planning fabric. When each team optimizes their own part the system governs, visualizes, and optimizes the overall impact.
  3. Intuitive
Each planning problem is modeled separately, whether forecasting, planning, or scheduling, whether demand, inventory, manufacturing, transportation or procurement. These models are created by dragging building blocks from a toolbox onto a graphical canvas. The user paints a picture of what the supply chain looks like and which part to tackle, and the system creates all the logic and structures in the background. The graphical models are presented as business objects that make sense to the user, not some system abstraction.
  4. Easy
Whether using a best-of-breed system or a spreadsheet for forecasting or planning, advanced degrees are required by the users to make it function effectively. For example, traditional forecasting systems require someone with a statistics background to double-check the system-selected forecasting algorithm and its chosen parameter values. Wahupa SCM is designed to automate and optimize what should be automated and to present information to the user in the most simple and effective way. The users need only to know their business, not advanced mathematics.
  5. Integrated
When supply chain systems are implemented they need to get data from other systems: master data, inventory levels, open orders, and so forth. The effort to integrate those systems is traditionally the largest part of most implementations. The involved systems view data differently from one another and complex mappings and integrity checks need to be custom built, even in systems sold as "product suites". These typically require expensive middleware or custom-built staging databases. Wahupa SCM however has staging built-in, allowing communication with other systems in the format those systems need, and the model governs cleanliness and integrity of the data. This saves tremendous amounts of effort and removes risks associated with bad data.
  6. Flexible
As your business evolves over time, most changes are reflected in Wahupa SCM completely automatically, by virtue of data coming from integrated systems. Examples are new products introduced, new bills of materials, new machines or locations. Sometimes however, a real change in how business is conducted occurs. In such case the model can be safely adjusted. Wahupa provides development and test instances of a model. The user can make big changes in minutes on the graphical canvas, then test it, and move it to the live production instance when confirmed that it behaves as expected. Most tests can be automated in a workflow, dramatically decreasing manual effort on consecutive changes.
  7. Cost Effective
Wahupa SCM is extremely easy and rapid to implement, and even easier to maintain. The biggest cost with most supply chain systems is the upfront implementation, typically requiring long projects with lots of expensive consultants. On the other side of the spectrum is Excel , which is considered "free" software since it is already in use. However, the hidden cost of maintenance of Excel in forecasting or planning use is usually staggeringly high. Planners spend large amounts of time updating sheets with each planning cycle. Time they cannot spend planning or analyzing or adding value. As a consequence they focus only on key items and key customers, whilst waste, obsolesence, stockouts, expediting, and transfers rack up the costs for everything else. Not so Wahupa SCM. Total cost of ownership is dramatically lower than both competing best-of-breed systems and spreadsheets.

Thoroughbred Software

Wahupa SCM was designed from the ground up to provide a perfect custom fit to your unique requirements in a standard off-the-shelf software product, and do so in a way that is intuitive to business users not just  IT consultants, that streamlines implementation and daily use, and has heavy-duty reliability. We've taken decades of experience working with all kinds of systems to build one that is devoid of all the flaws of those other systems and retaining all their strengths. We are proud of the result. We believe you will be impressed when you try it...

About Uncertainty

Uncertainty is an uncomfortable position. But certainty is an absurd one.

Voltaire, French Philosopher

As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain, and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality.

Albert Einstein, German-born Physicist
